Rocket League Optimal Settings – [Improve FPS and Response Time]

Playing Rocket League is fun, but you always want an advantage over your opponent when you get competitive. One way to be the sharper knife in the drawer is to use the optimal settings for Rocket League. This way, you know you’ve got the best response time and FPS.

We base these optimal settings on what the professionals are using out there today. And if you want to get on another level like those guys. The first step is to keep your game as optimized as it can be. Here’s how starting off with the Video Settings.

Optimal Settings in Rocket League

Video settings

Video settings are the settings where you could up your FPS and reaction time since you most likely have many settings on, but you don’t need them, and these aren’t good for your FPS. With Rocket League’s optimal settings, you can get higher FPS. Also, if you have a lot of settings on, you probably sometimes look at the particles; whether you know it or not, everyone does it. So to help you get the best FPS and not lose as much quality, we have the following list:

Resolution: (This depends on your monitor, most people have a 1920:1080 16:9 monitor.
Window mode:This also depends, it doesn’t really matter, so if you feel like you ALT+TAB a lot, you should go to windowed or borderless. If you just play and do nothing in the time where you’re waiting for your new game, just set it on fullscreen.
Vertical Sync:You shouldn’t enable this, it lowers your FPS and is not necessary.
Anti Alias:You shouldn’t enable this, it lowers your FPS and is not necessary.
Render Quality:High quality, this is necessary to keep the game look normal and not make it look like Minecraft.
Render detail:Custom
Max FPS:Just set this on 250, the higher your PC gets, the more stable the 60HZ (where you’re most likely playing on) will get.
Texture detail:High performance, this will increase your FPS.
World detail:Performance, this will increase your FPS.
High-quality shaders:On
Ambient occlusion:Off, this is not necessary for good quality.
Depth of field:Off, this is not necessary for good quality.
Bloom:Off, this is not necessary for good quality.
Light shafts:Off, this is not necessary for good quality.
Lens flares:Off, this is not necessary for good quality.
Dynamic shadows:Off
Motion blur:Off
Weather effects:Off

Knowing what FPS you have

To see an FPS counter in the corner of your screen is a handy feature. There are a couple of programs that will show you how much FPS you have. We recommend Nvidia’s Geforce Experience (if you have an Nvidia GPU). Also, Rivatuner is a good option.

Hardware

Rocket League Recommended Requirements

  • CPU SPEED: 2.5+ GHz Quad core
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • OS: Windows 7 or Newer
  • VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 660 or better, ATI 7950 or better
  • PIXEL SHADER: 5.0
  • VERTEX SHADER: 5.0
  • FREE DISK SPACE: 5 GB
  • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 2048 MB

Keep in mind that this is a recommended list, not a list that will always provide the best experience. You also have other methods of speeding up your PC other than buying new components, such as our next subject, overclocking.

Overclocking

Overclocking can increase your clock speed, making the computer components faster than the limits set by the manufacturer. If you want to do this, you really need to know what you are doing. This could remove your PC / component warranty and even BREAK your components in the long or short term. If you know what you’re doing, it will really help your FPS, accuracy, and smoothness in the game. Disclaimer: We’re not responsible for any damage done while overclocking.
